Our Therapeutic Approach

We have experts who treat many mental health conditions, such as anxiety, PTSD, and depression. At Therapists of Southern California, we use various therapeutic methods and techniques to treat mental health issues and conditions.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is among the most effective therapies for treating mental health issues. The effectiveness and success of CBT have made it the gold standard of psychotherapy when treating mental health issues and SUD. Therapists of Southern California implements CBT into the fabric of treatment. During CBT, a trained cognitive-behavioral therapist helps individuals learn how to identify and change negative behaviors and thought patterns.

Through CBT, our therapists and mental healthcare professionals identify, challenge, and replace these negative thoughts with more objective, positive, and realistic thoughts. CBT leverages a wide range of techniques like talk therapy, journaling, role-playing, and mental distractions in order to effectively treat clients. At Therapists of Southern California, our therapists train clients to develop self-awareness about the connections that link their emotions, thoughts, and behavior so that they can change for the better.

CBT is particularly valuable in an integrated treatment plan, where it is one of several treatment methods used to address an individual’s mental health disorders and issues. At Therapists of Southern California, we strive to provide customized, personalized, integrated treatment programs that ensure your best chance at healing and sustainable recovery.

This element of our integrated treatment plan also helps you build new coping skills, like rehearsing ways to avoid specific social situations that may trigger cravings and relapse.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT is an extension of conventional cognitive-behavioral therapy and was initially developed to treat borderline personality disorder (BPD). But with its versatile application and practices, DBT quickly found success in several other areas.

From helping patients identify and overcome self-destructive habits and behaviors to helping create impactful and resilient relationships, DBT is an effective and safe treatment across many situations.

At Therapists of Southern California, we use DBT to help treat anxiety disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, substance use disorder (SUD), and people with trauma and PTSD. DBT theory works on the principle that some individuals experience a heightened sense of fear, stress, or other emotions than an average person in various situations, because of their conditioning or past.

Our team uses dialectical behavior therapy to help you manage your emotions, develop self-awareness, and develop and improve relationships. By helping you understand and challenge your inherent thought patterns through our DBT practices, our compassionate and professional staff creates a client-centered and holistic approach to your rehabilitation and healing, instilling practices, strategies, and modalities to develop and maintain a healthy and positive lifestyle.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness and meditation help people maintain focus. It is common for individuals with unstable moods, anxiety, trauma, and long-term depression to always think about the past or the future. Mindfulness is valuable as it enables you to embrace and enjoy the present moment.

You cannot live in your past or focus all your energy on the future. Taking control of your life starts by being present in each moment.

When you engage in mindfulness meditation, you will also practice the art of deep breathing. Deep breathing is vital to being calm and taking control of your life now that you are in recovery. By practicing deep breathing, you could change your thought processes, patterns, and behaviors.

During your recovery treatment at Therapists of Southern California, you’ll look to your past for clues about your behavior patterns and why specific things trigger you. However, the main purpose of doing it is to help you learn new, positive, healthy behaviors and habits.

Take this next step, and in time, you will be free…

Therapy provides a touchstone for you as you navigate this complex world. Sometimes you’ll come back to a key insight you discovered during one of your sessions… or you might use some of the tools you learned on your own.

You can find peace within yourself and move forward securely on your journey in life.

Sessions are available to you from the comfort of your own space. So, let’s chat… we are glad you’re here, and we look forward to meeting you soon!
